The Carbondale Rotary and the Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District teamed up once again to drop more than 1,000 colored ping pong balls from a fire ladder truck on First Friday, May 2nd on the lawn beside the Village Smithy! As before, the ball closest the center target won the $5,000 grand prize. Congratulations to our grand prize and consolation prize winners!

Last year's Fireball Drop raised over $40,000 to support Carbondale Rotary's mission and programs. We gave out more than $15,000 in scholarships so deserving high school seniors could attend college, and provided grants to community organizations including Voices Roaring Fork Valley, Raising a Reader, Summit 54 Summer Advantage, Smiling Goat Ranch, Rocky Mountain Institute, the Carbondale Aquatics Center project, and more. Funding also helped support Roaring Fork High School students Annasophia Brown, Alea Blanchard and Lucas Munn during their year as Rotary Youth Exchange students in Brazil, Thailand and Japan, and allowed Vasek Hejda from Czech Republic and Geovana Ruas from Brazil spend a year here in Carbondale!
