Environmental Sustainability

Committee Objectives
- Champion Protecting the Environment and Environmental Sustainability (ES) to the Club
- Organize, coordinate, and promote ES service projects, grants, and collaborations
- Motivate club members to incorporate ES into their daily lives and in club activities, events, and projects
- Provide advice and information on ES to the club President and Board
- Recognize club ES accomplishments at the end of the Rotary year

Past & Present Funded Projects
- Organized several community wide events where 39 small engine gas powered lawn care equipment was retired and recycled in exchange for gift cards for consideration of purchase of battery powered or xeriscape alternatives.
- Grant provided to Rocky Mountain Sport Riders (RMSR) to further their initiative toward supporting balanced and responsible use of public lands.
- Periodic highway cleanup of a section of Colorado Highway 82 and Highway 133

Grant Requests
- Grant requests are accepted February and March of each year and are accepted from a non profit organization, education institution, or community group.
- Requests should align with the Environmental Committee’s Objectives and focus areas (e.g. conservation, renewable energy, pollution reduction, community education).
